Intercambio Vzw is looking for volunteers who can teach English in a disadvantaged neighborhood in Medellín (Colombia).

Profile?

1. good level of English and basic level of Spanish

2. good communication skills

3. experience working with children

Get to know Driss!

Hello everyone,

In this video, you have the opportunity to meet Driss from Belgium, one of our current volunteers in Medellín (2026).

Driss joined us at the end of January, he prepared himself thoroughly for this experience by taking Spanish classes and asking thoughtful questions from the very beginning. It was immediately clear that he takes this opportunity seriously, and we greatly admire his commitment.

Even before officially starting his volunteer work with Dame La Mano, he was already making an impact by helping another foundation in Medellín with food distribution for people living in the Bronx area, entirely on his own initiative.

Driss is deeply curious about other cultures and has a clear passion for "fútbol" which is a good match with Colombia :).

We are very grateful to have him as part of our team!

Alejandra (local teacher) speaks about our project in Medellín

"Over the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching English to children and young adults in Comuna 13, alongside Intercambio, a program that truly believes in education as a tool for change."

"What makes this experience even more special is how it brings together volunteers from all over the world, people who travel with the shared purpose to teach, to learn, and to connect."

"In every class, cultures meet, stories are exchanged, and students come to realize that the world is both bigger and closer than they ever imagined."

Why choose Intercambio?

  • We are an inclusive organization run by a team of volunteers whose members have all been on the projects.

  • We are in close contact with the social leaders of the projects and the target group for the voluntary work.

  • We offer affordable volunteering experiences.

  • In our association everybody has a say: both the volunteer, the supervisors, the hosting association and the teenagers.
