Enjoying el eje cafetero
After having our first month here in Medellin, we can confidently say we are slowly transforming in a real Paisa (this is how the citizens of Medellin are called). Our classes are taking place three times a week and there is a nice balance inbetween the classes at Dame la Mano and the classes at La divisa. Both have their fair share of challenges and opportunities.
Alister from England, Quinten from The Netherlands and Jordi from Belgium are forming a good group in which there is enough time in between classes to find different ways to relax. Dancing (Salsa is so much fun), language exchanges and beautiful hikes are just some of the activities who make up for a great time during our spare time.
Only recently we went with the four of us (Alexander came with us) to a beautiful region south of Medellin. The region is called Eje cafetero and is home to some of the best coffee in Colombia and the world.Â
We had the privilege to enjoy the steaming hot Termales, which consists of some very relaxing hot springs accompanied by a cold, natural waterfall that makes for a paradise for body and mind. After that, we got to see the national park of Los Nevados, where our lovely guide Leo brought us up to 4300 meter to enjoy some fresh Coca tea (which helps against the altitude sickness) and gave us some information about the geography of the park. On our last day, we did an amazing hike that brought us to the hills of the Cocora Valley. Surrounded by the stunning palm trees, we found some time to reflect on our amazing adventure in the big city of Medellin and beyond.
